You must enter the complete path of the file. For example, if you see a file
on your system named /etc/inittab and you want to know which package it
belongs to, you must enter the full path, /etc/inittab, in the Find File dialog
box.
You cannot use wildcards such as ? or * in the filename.
5.
Choose Find.
The bottom part of the Find File dialog box shows the name of the pack-
age that installed the filename you entered.
To see the package listed, you must locate and select it in the package list.
You can’t open it directly from the Find File window. (Use the Find Pack-
age option to locate it if necessary.)
Installing New Software
You can also use kpackage to install additional software packages. Packages
must be in the rpm format. You can find hundreds of software packages in rpm
format on the OpenLinux CD-ROM, or by searching Internet sites for Linux soft-
ware.
NOTE: The rpm packages on the OpenLinux CD-ROM are
located on the path: col/install/RPMS
To install a new software package:
1.
From the KDE main menu, select COAS|kpackage.
2.
If prompted, enter the root password.
3.
Choose File|Open.
An Open dialog box appears.
4.
Use the Open dialog box to browse your filesystem until you locate
the rpm file that you want to install on your system.
If you want to install a software package from the OpenLinux CD-ROM,
be certain the CD-ROM drive is mounted with the correct CD-ROM in
place before you start the kpackage utility. (Insert the CD-ROM and, as
root user, and either type mount /mnt/cdrom from a Terminal window or
use /auto/cdrom to access the CD-ROM.)
5.
Select the rpm file that you want to install and choose OK.
